I wouldn't have noticed this but for going through many play-throughs of the early part of the game; but there are a LOT of problems with "skipping lines" or questions/sections during extended dialogue scenes. Partly I suspect there is a deliberate random factor, but multiple times I've had a comment which then jumps to a reply to a question that hasn't been asked "this time".
