The tadpole doesn't seem like a real threat because you have no effects and no consequences. Maybe if the character occasionally glitched out like what you see in the Spider-Verse animated movie that came out recently. Your character could sometimes be dazed in combat by the tadpole, or sometimes have a fit during dialogue. Give it something to make us feel the pressure of getting rid of this thing.
