Hello,

I'm currently trying the Dual Wield combat style and i've noticed weird behavior.

(1)
To my knowledge, you can choose this style when you reach lv2 fighter and ranger in EA.
According to the description, it add your modifier to the damage of your offhand weapon.
But it was already the case before i choose it. I'm not used to 5e, is there a finesse weapon specific rule that would by pass this ?

(2)
Offhand attack is still executed when you manage to kill an enemy with the main hand attack.
Your bonus action is gone.

I'll take the lv4 feat also to do further test dual wielding weapon :
- not light
- not finesse

Feel free to share your experience with that combat style

My understanding was that just clicking enemies to attack is essentially action + bonus action attack in one, but at least for sneak attack it's main hand only so I can do off hand separate. Maybe if you choose the main hand attack on the hotbar it'll do just that?

I tried the main hand action, it work the same way as clicking the enemy.

The only way around is to use the offhand first (bonus action) because It doesn't trigger the main hand.
You still have your action available.

A scenario like:
- action to attack
- bonus action to drink a potion

turn into :
- bonus action to attack
- action to throw a potion near

Agreed to the above and I would add that Dual-Wielding is much less desirable since "Shove" is a bonus action that can be much much more effective. Sure, that's situational, but the game plays a lot with elevation so it's not so situational; spending a feat to dual wield bigger weapons felt like a bad investment.

When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you're holding in the other hand. You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative.

So yes, I do believe there's a bug in Two-Weapon fighting.
I also noticed that I often have a higher chance to hit with my main hand than off-hand, which I find odd, since the rule states nothing about not adding modifiers on your to hit roll.

You are also able to use off-hand attack twice with the Thiefs two bonus actions, which also break the rules.

You can press X to switch between main hand and dual wield. It's probably not stated anywhere, but I noticed it by chance when looking at the weapon abilities in the action bar. There's a very tiny toggle in the user interface that I didn't see for the first 20 hours of playing. Switching that toggle lets you attack with main hand only even if you are holding a second weapon.

You can toggle dual use on and off next to the ranged/melee switch. As for the topic, I am also very confused about this.

Thanks for the tip.
I saw that toogle before and i didn't understand what was its purpose.

After using it, it work just fine.
I would advise to toggle it back to dual before you pass your turn becasue you will use both hand in case of opportunity attack.

Edit:
i'm choosing thoses "unappealling" feat on purpose to test, see how it is in order to give feedback
