I may have missed an option switch, but it appears that all game saves are stored in the Cloud.

This is probably fine for Larian's purposes of data collection and analysis, and is obviously important during EA, but is there a way to save locally without using the Cloud. I (and I am possibly not alone) do not feel comfortable send and receiving information from the Cloud, and would like a different save location option.

When you make a new profile or you can go into options -> Gameplay -> Save Options and disable cross save , which enables the cloud saves. That should solve the request you are seeking.

Cross saves are Cloud saves?

Ah, okay. That might have been better headlined in the game itself!
