That whole situation is bugged as heck - you can leap through the door and - if you succeed roll- lift log off of him and if you happen to break the door from the outside of that room, he will follow you through and then stop - does not follow you down the stairs and out the side if you happen to jump off the roof (like I did looking for a walking way out) but then run up the stairs back to him. I reloaded and in future attempts I could break the door but it would still say the path is blocked so I would have to jump through instead of walking into that room. That whole situation needs to be looked at because it's busted. Also the door, even after it's broken, continues to have HP like it didn't break, but then it buggs out and you can't actually break it.

I had to do this about 10 times for it to work. It does seem buggy. But after you break the door and get the log off him. I had to run out the door fast as I could. He followed me 1 out of 10 times. It does seem a bit buggy.

That entire burning village needs to be looked at, I encountered more bugs there then anywhere else so far.

This quest is a mess. If you break the door behind benryn to escape through the other building where his wife lies, he will follow into the corridor and then stop moving. No way to talk him out of this, he simply stucks and the quest is unsolved.

IMO, the fire in the next room over spreads way too fast. It acts like the floorboards have been soaked in oil. Once you free him, the fire rushes in and blocks your exit to the main part of the building. I attempted to put it into turned based mode so I could throw some water on it, but it stayed in real time mode. Very annoying. You pretty much have to put the fire out first, and then save him.

I always go in from the building where his wife is, break the door and hope I will succeed the roll. He always followed me to the place where his wife is. The only time I tried to get to him from the other side he did get stuck in the corridor.

You don’t have to break the door. You can jump in and out. Benryn can jump out with you.

Jumping through the door never occurred to me as something I could do... taking it down just made more sense to me. grin

BTW, I just went back to Benryn, who in my current run is stuck in the corridor, and tried shoving him towards the room where his wife is. That ended up with him flying out of the window, but he survived and when I talked to him I could progress with the quest.
