I have played most classes a bit (not a fan of cleric) and tried different party compositions. Here are my thoughts on where the game stands at this point.
Character customization:
It is okay, faces are all pretty good, I wish for more things to customize, more faces maybe, scars, darker black hair (like a really really dark blue black), and different builds would be nice (slender, medium, ripped, etc.).
Tieflings could use more horn styles (some with jewelry on them, gold tips, etc.) and different tails would be nice. A few more hair styles would be nice. Your Halfings look like the new art version, sad as I prefer the older version (thinner and could be mistaken for human children). This could be fixed with builds though . . .
On the whole it is okay for me.
Classes:
Rogue was super fun. That additional bonus action is pure love. Easiest time I had with a melee build was a Rogue. I was dashing around in melee shiving people right and left.
Ranger was next in line for me. The damage they can deal out is very nice and they are a flexible class, I can stealth, shoot a longbow, dual wield scimitars, had a high ac and was actually able to do traps/locks.
Fighter was okay, it played like a fighter. Fighters are boring to me at low levels, so would need to be higher than 4 to really make an impression. Battle Master is more fun at lower levels than Eldritch Knight to me.
Magic User plays nice. Mage Armor put my ac high enough that the enemies were targeting Shadowheart so I just blasted away. I actually like the modifications to the cantrips. I freeze the ground or blow the crap out of oil/illithid ooze/ etc. Spider Matriarch - no worries, taking on the goblin village? Put some oil and smoke barrels down on the bridge and goad them to come get you. a few booms later and you are cleaning up the leftovers.
You know what would be cool though? BladeSinger. Just saying.

Warlock was my favorite class to play. Unlimited power! Two warlocks in a party almost seemed unfair. Repulsing blasts is just so fun. A few things that I think need fixing though. Two hexes on same thing should not cancel one of them. If they are hexed for different stats it should stay in place. Also There needs to be a way to change out your evocations every level = as well as a place on the character sheet to SEE what evocations you have. I need more pacts. Pact of the Blade is calling me. (So is Hexblade, but probably will not see that).
I did not play cleric.
Overall UI:
The character sheet needs to show skills and things like Evocations. What proficiencies we have as well as what our base is for the ones we do not.
The sort items icon is in a weird place. How hard would it be to put one at the bottom of each inventory?
Armor is nice but all looks the same. Can we get different variations of armor? I liked the drow studded armor I found. Oh, and magic armor should at least look a bit different (not just colors). Like the Poisoner Robe could be more tattered looking with green and blue Tie Dye pattern or something. It is my hope when the crafting is added we can choose how it looks and level up cool looking armor and weapons with it.
Companions:
I actually like them all, mostly. Astorian just rubs me the wrong way, the voice and the way he speaks makes me want to stab him. BUT the companions are all pretty cool so far. I really enjoy Wyll's story, too bad my Warlock does not have that cool a story. I may actually play his story sometime. Lae'Zel has turned out to be my favorite companion, she reminds me a bit of Aeryn Sun, totally Militaristic and single minded at times, and I love her voice acting.
Story:
Right now it is too early to see what is going to be the whole tale, but it is a nice beginning IMO. Something is amiss and there is foul mechanizations going on about a new God like entity trying to take over. I am grooving on this so far.
Graphics:
This game is lovely. There are times I have just stood and enjoyed the view. Very pretty game so far!
Animation/Cut Scenes:
Okay the bard girl - I watch that whole scene play every time. Very nicely done. (even though out of the scene she is tuning an Air Loot). Most cut scenes were really nice. I like that in the first scene with Lae'Zel you see her smile a bit when she realizes you are not a thrall. Very well done on almost all of them. I had a few issues with some scenes though. In the Waukeen burning Building the Dukes Aid (?) - during that scene the camera moves and i am staring at a wall before being brought back into the end of the scene only for it to do it again. Stuff like that I am sure will get ironed out though.
All in all I love this game so far! You guys (Larian) have done an awesome job!
