Just some constructive criticism. I understand with Early Access they may already have something in the works. But since I couldn't find any comments with the search function I thought I'd add my thoughts.

The map looks too low-resolution and like a game from a previous generation. I understand many UI elements are probably placeholder/borrowed from Divinity, like the teleport icons, combat movement descriptions (grey loading bar at top), some inventory icons, etc. I think a resolution bump at least, is a must. It looks bad, at least with 3440x1440 resolution. There's different approaches and stylizations they could also go with for the map. Kingdom Come: Deliverance's serves as a very interesting approach to a game map, perhaps Larian could take some inspiration.

The inventory system is quite tedious, esp. when sorting junk that I don't know the purpose of and not being able to properly preview items before purchasing. Perhaps armor and weaponry could have bigger icons than the rest. I had this problem with Divinity: Original Sin II as well. It should be simpler to see what colour of item you're getting and what it will look like on your character beforehand. The first Baldur's Gate game had a simple dye option (if I remember correctly), maybe that could exist here as well in some form. I don't base decisions purely on stats. I also don't like the look of many of the armours and their sort of plastic/rubbery textures, but that is perhaps another topic.

It does seem like they haven't implemented a lot of armor yet. And not a lot of variation. Some NPCs have other styles of armor not available to us though.

In the game files there is much more variations in armor than in the game itself. I'm sure we will see more options in that regard once the full game will come out. Right now it seems like some of the models are simply incomplete. Look at the difference between the armors of Wyll and gale in the game and in the artwork for example.

About the map - there is already a mod that provides a better map if you're interested. But sure, map improvements would be welcome. For my part, I would like to have the option to click on the waypoint I want to go to instead of choosing from a list.

Yep inventory is just like BG and that's one instance when this is not a compliment wink

At least give us some autosort, a keychain and an option to access newly looted items instantly so I don't have to go through all the bloody letters.

What do you guys do with them letters? I kinda feel some of them might become relevant later on (for example those looted from Gromwick, or I'm sorry letter) and I'm just carrying them around contributing to the mess in my inventory.

As a sidenote I'm also kinda collecting paintings in the camp hoping we'll one day get a walk to hang them on 🤗

I always liked the map used in Ultima Underworld - felt like a proper map that an adventurer might hand draw wink

But yeah inventory management is a pain, way too much stuff that seems and probably is useless. Some of it likely to do with crafting that has yet to be included such as all the mushrooms and herbs etc. Some of it seems to be just left over from the previous Larian game system.

Not entirely sure why they think finding knives and forks all over the place adds to the fun or sense of realism.

You can sort stuff based on how recently it was received or by type, but yeah a better way of highlighting new stuff since you last opened your inventory would be good. And being able to sell all the useless stuff in one go would also be good, and using whichever character gets the best deal rather than have to move inventory around to a particular character.

Books might be tied to achievements (assuming there are any), and some of them seemed relevant to various quests that can't resolved in this act (like letters for someone found on a dead body). So i try and read all of them, just in case, but sell almost all of the books/letters and keep a few that seem possibly useful.

The map is very difficult to use, especially in areas with a mix of low and high levels. It's not always clear where you can move and where you can't.

It might be that the map is procedurally generated from the game data files, and not hand-drawn? That's an efficient way to do it, but it's not always the best at giving the player useful information. If it's procedurally generated, that could also explain the oddly low resolution. If the map is actually hand-drawn, then they should find someone else to do the art work!

The inventory needs major work. Auto-sorting, category IDs, a "junk" tag and a button to sell junk. Could also use a shift-click to select multiple items for transfer between characters.

One other thing about inventory -- why does the game have so many Backpacks and Pouches that don't auto-open on the ground when you click on them? Instead, you have to move them into your inventory, click to open, click to loot any valuables, then click again to drop it out of your inventory. Maybe they're trying to give us these backpacks to help organize our inventory, but it's a dumb system when there are so many of them to deal with in the game.

Isnt 'wares' Larian's version of junk, although while you can mark stuff as wares there's no sell all alas, although it does help avoid you accidently something of value if you filter just for wares whilst selling.

Did you just miss it or are you a troll?

At the top of the inventory is a button to autosort. You can sort by 4 different variables. New items will have an icon that only dissapears if you mouse over it so thats also already in the game.

Keychain and more ways to sort items would be appreciated though.

one of the first mod I used was one that uprezzed the map. https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2

Even with that it still ugly and not that useful.

I whole UI needs major work. Inventory should have tabs that we can autosort stuff into. Since you can seem to trade stuff among party members at any time, even in combat, why not just go to a party stash and make it more organizable?

The hotbar is barely useable. Spells need to be some type of popup so you can pick level instead of having MM1, MM2, MM3, etc.

I want a better character sheet.

Thank you for being so friendly, no I haven't missed it (and you obviously have a strange definition of trolling), yet I would expect a modern day inventory to autosort spontaneously after being to the vendor.

Or to put new items always at the front/back (whichever's fine with me).
Or to keep relevant letters/books in a sort of codex.
