Hi all,
From the posts I have read, it seems that a lot of people are complaining about the number of skill points available in BD, namely that there aren't enough. Larian's inclusion of the Battlefields seems to imply that an infinite number of levels and therefore tons of skill points are potentially available to every character.
Is this the case? How are the Battlefields working out for all of you? Are they fun, tedious, stupid, a waste of time, not rewarding enough, too few monsters, not enough XP to go around? I've read that those who have finished the game were on level 40 or so when they did it, that seems awfully low when compared to DD's average of 50-something. Surely with all the new customisation options available it would make more sense to give players the opportunity to reach higher levels by the end of the game than in DD?
If it is true that most people are "only" around level 40, this would definitely imply that the Battlefields are not doing their intended job. Or, if they ARE doing their job in allowing for unlimited level gains, then they must be a chore to go through.
If any of you have any thoughts on this, please feel free to share them with me, I would love to find out more before my game arrives (yes, I am that starved of things to do while I wait!).
Thanks!
Cheers

Largely tedious, but inoffensive. I've played through a couple, but find them boring. I'm certainly not interested in doing my leveling there. I'd rather Larian simply allowed me to select the number of skill points I wanted at start-up, as well as monster difficulty.

Infinite levelling is possible after the main game is over, when you can continue playing in the Battlefields indefinitely. During the game itself, it is very unlikely you will get much above level 40, I suspect, and I finished well below that.
I was level 29 at the end of the game, though I generally ignored most of the Battlefields after Act 2. I completed them in Act One, did roughly half in Act 2, then got bored with them

What is interesting in BF is the merchants ( objects + skills ), each time i am encombred, i go identify and sell stuff in the BF None of the objects on the BF bosses so far were that impressive, maybe they will be better in BF3&4

I'm not too bothered about the battle fields but they are very handy for offloading the excess items and learning skills!
I'm not sure that infinite character leveling matters a whole lot as I don't imagine anyone would get to level 100 or over...unless you level really fast in the battlefields after the game is complete, who would have the patience to level over 50 times in the battlefields?

Right, that settles it then - the Battlefields, while not particularly offensive to anyone's sensibilities, are not so well done that people WANT to spend time there voluntarily. Also, while infinite levelling is theoretically possible, very few people will want to subject themselves to average (if not below average) hacking and slashing to get there.
Thanks once again for the feedback!

You can't go back to the acts, sadly, no...
It would be great to be able to Riftrun back to clear up any missing quests you may have missed the first time through...

I just tested the end Battlefields, and they are a cakewalk, with no challenge whtsoever. Nothing is taking more than one hit to go down.
Also, the Minimap is disabled, making navigation very awkward, and there is no easy way back to town when a dungeon is cleared.
I really would NOT recommend playing beyond the final act of the game itself.
