I just bought this game and noticed it was 2 CDs while Divine Divinity was 3 CDs so is Beyond Divinity a shorter game?

Also I should't have bought Divine Divinity if I knew it would have been offered for free in Beyond Divinity. Oh well. At least I got to enjoy Divine Divinity a year earlier though.

I can't believe I bought Beyond Divinity when I still haven't finished Divine Divinity and I'm at the last part after you call the meeting at the end with that gong.

At least the manual for this game is much more bigger.

The game isn't shorter, they're both about the same. If you try to finish each individual quest and explore the map a bit, they're both good for about 100 hours each.

The reason BD is on 2CD's is because the characters aren't prerendered anymore. Though the models are slightly less detailed, the animation is alot smoother, and 3D models don't take up as much space as thousands of little pictures.
Also, since BD renders characters on the spot, you can dress up your character better.

Like in DD when you equipped a pot on your head, it would look like any other metal helmet, while in BD it actually looks like a pot

I don't know if Beyond Divinity is shorter than Divine Divinity but i know why there are only 2 CD instead of 3 CD.

In Beyond Divinity there are 3D graphics for the characters.
3D graphics need less space on the CD than 2D graphics.

I am sorry to say that but the last part (after the gong) is the less interesting part of Divine Divinity.

Thank God, I thought I was the only one that thought that dealing with the 5 Black Ring members was horrible! I HATED doing that part! I enjoyed taking the Demon of Lies down, though, I hate liars in real life so it was extra satisfying for me!

Hi Deon du Plessis (nice french name)

You're not alone.
Even Lar do not like this part.
This is a quote of the Fragland Interview in february 2004.

[color:"yellow"] 5. If I remember correctly, a number of gamers found the end-part of Divine Divinity somewhat of a lesser quality compared with the rest of the game. Does the end of Beyond Divinity promise to be more exciting and/or more complex? Is it possible to play on after the end of the story?

The end of Divine Divinity totally sucked. We weren't quite ready actually, so we had to "rush" things very hard in order to get it all done. We were planning to kick out the entire last part of Divinity, the Wastelands, and to keep it for Beyond Divinity so then we could have made it right.

You have a village there and normally there would have been all kinds of stuff to do but we had to cancel all that because time was running out. The publisher on the other hand still wanted us to bring variation into the terrain. That's the reason why those Wastelands are so terribly boring.

There isn't anyone here who still played that part after release because we all knew how boring it was. All those houses in the Wastelands were empty and should have been full with monsters and unique items. The intention was that all the previously beaten beasts returned in the last level as some kind of final offensive from monster against man.

So actually the story stopped in Councelor 7 and normally we would have continued it with this title. This time round, we started out by making the end for Beyond Divinity. Naturally, I can't tell you anything about that yet. Though it will be possible to play further after the end, because you still have the Battlefields. [/color]

I think is actually a shorter game, yes. It's still pretty big, don't get me wrong, but it took me a lot less time to complete.

(Although the end section of may just have made it FEEL that way )
