What is with the bookshelf? I get the "scratches on the floor" line and as far as I can tell nothing manifests in the form of a lever or button to unlock it.

This one took me a while also but I appreciated actually having to do some work to find the switch. It gets boring when you just automatically spot them all the time. One of my companions made a comment about looking around and that prompted me to start checking everything.

I'd rather they have hard puzzles . . . and if you do get stuck its always easy to google the answer.

It took me 5 minutes of hard thinking until I realized I was playing a Larian game. Something clicked in my head then, and I looked behind boxes laugh

I had to look it up too. I still didn't "get it" after seeing the switch location on a web page, until I remembered the scenery isn't all hand-drawn and static like in many CRPG's. You can move and break things. I'll have to keep remembering that going forward.

looking around is one thing, a classic sconce or bookshelf lever or button under the desk I would look for. yeeting all the crates away from random walls is something else.

Ohhh... I just found the cellar tonight & the scratch marks - but left without finding anything - I’m back in the village next play so I’ll have a better look. I’ve not played the dos games either so will have to get more creative in my searching - I did try dragging in a FireWire barrel by the big cabinet & detonating it with Gales fire bolt = was actually quite proud of myself for that stunning idea - yielded me naught though 😉
