Minor Spoilers for a short post
As I took my first Long Rest in BG3, I noticed my Drow PC meditating, while the others slept or meditated as described in their racial traits. So when the scene of Astarion creeping over my sleeping PC played on screen, it left me feeling out of control where I should have another option for meditating, even if it's a high DC ~12 to succeed on a perception check.
The other, more extreme option, is to change the scene and include the fact the PC and Astarion both meditate; perhaps Astarion asks permission to feed on a companion, which would expand on the relationships and tension of any situation, especially if Astarion and the bitten companion travel together. I understand Vampire Spawn obedience rules, so this would require some tweaking and maybe even some Larian DM house rules...
