Hello people, i wonder if there is any influence of custom character background on story? or it's just a couple of talents at the beginning of tha game, and it has no influence on following story? Welcome any guesses, or may be someone already found something in game.

There is already some influence right now depending on your character's background (most notably if you are a Drow), but hopefully, there would be more

No, i mean not race, but background, like criminal, or noble, or sailor.

I'm sure that they'll add more backgrounds at some point. I also noticed that there were a few options in dialogues to choose [Background: Baldur's Gate] or something like that so maybe we'll be able to choose where we grew up as well.

Larian have said that they are not planning on adding any dialogue references to backgrounds. The game has race and class dialogue options, but adding in background ones on top of that is too much work. As of now it’s just a way to pick extra skills.

I found different dialogues for non-baldurian, class-specific and elven characters for now.

It's realy interesting to know coz when creating character you want to do it relevant, but also want to create "your" character. For example for scout class, background criminal is very good feeting (it's just my guess, i'm new in DnD), but i don't want be a criminal in this game), but if for game background is only +2 talents, and no aftermath for story, the best way is just pick optimal talents.

Thank you, that's what i wanted to know, hope they change it, but it's not a big deal, game is super without it too.

That's how I treat backgrounds in general. Some are always going to match the theme better but I ultimately pick based on the concept I'm creating for the character at that time.

In a way it makes sense: An acolyte background is not going to be the same for a Githyanki or a drow or a baldurian human. Making a dialogue reference that matches all wouldn´t be easy.

Im affraid this is only for skills ... or at last mainly for skills ... I dont see much cances how implement to dialog that you were charlatan, hermit, outlander, or sailor.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

I was sad that I picked Urchin origin on my halfling ranger and she couldn't discuss stuff with the Tiefling kids.

There are too many variations of backgrounds, it would be difficult to add in content for all of these. There may sometimes be a dialogue option that fits your background in tone but not because Larian put it there, at least I haven't come across any specifics for the ones I usually pick. Class and race give you special dialogue currently.
I would like there to be the custom background option at some point
