I’m really enjoying the food mechanic in the game & think it should stay in exactly as it is now - here’s why:

Firstly - I do think you shouldn’t be able to eat during combat.

Other than that - it is a different mechanic from just hitting or increasing the short rest.
It’s quite fun discovering food in all sorts of places & some heals better than others.
Stops the need for just doing the full rest constantly which is so easily abused.
It’s hard to go through this game without constantly taking damage - that’s all good but low level cleric heals run out pretty damn quickly & food supplements this nicely - adds a good balance to the game.
It will balance out in due course as food heals remain relatively low as the power levels of characters & their ability to heal through spells increases..

I actually think Larian put a bit more thought into this than some give credit for.

What you think?

I didn't use food in both dos and completed it on high difficulty, in bg3(for now at least) complete the game is too easy, so i see no point in this.

I would enjoy it as a part of a short rest rework. Take a break and have a bite. I feel like it's too powerful to just top off without food in any given situation (at least make the character full).

Along with that I think long rests need to be reworked. Resting and food are very much connected to me.

I don't understand how everyone is finding so much importance in food in their playthroughs.
With a fully-abusable short/long rest system without limitation in a game where there are constant cool little updates at your camp when you do rest, I don't see the value of food.

I don't want to fall to bits 'cos of excess existential thought.

I think it should stay, but not in combat. It's a mechanism to "top up" after a lower-level combat encounter, which means spacing out the short and long rests. Anything that discourages too much use of the camp is a good thing.

Besides, some players might like the roleplaying aspect of eating while on the move between encounters. You don't have to use it.

Agreed.

Food would be more balanced IMHO if you cannot use it in combat or if it´s not a bonus action. It´s kinda a replenishable "healing word" for everyone right now.

At least that would make people playing clerics in MP feel less of a healbot (for the ones that do not like that).
