I have heard this dialog on a few plays "Something stirs inside you and it's taking something you'll never get back" but i have no idea what that means. I'm only heard it after i used the tadpole so I'm sure it has something to do with losing my "humanity" or something to that effect. Does anyone know if there is a mechanical impact?

I have a theory that at the end of the game there will be a check how many times we have used the ilithid's abilities instead of the usual dice roll. And if there is too much, we transform.

Every time you use its power it grows in power. There is a point where your followers will ask or even tell you to stahp, warning you that by using the power you are increasing the tadpoles power.

A similar mechanic was in Elex, I did not play this action RPG (I didn’t like it, terrible controls) but read the walkthroughs. The ending differs depending on how often you use Elex and whether you use it at all.

No, the tadpole is the final boss. Mark my words.

"The ending changes depending on how you used the tadpole"

I hope not that would be derivative garbage. There are hints of the magic used that corrupted the tadpole. The magic is from an ancient very magically powerful race of humans that exist in pureblood form in small communities. I am unaware of any other race familiar with said magic so it could be this race of humans manipulating the illithids to destroy the cultures that destroyed them. Hence the "not transforming" but the ability to use the very powerful abilities of the mindflayers. The tadpoles maybe a symbiote weapon able to easily infiltrate all levels of current society to destroy it from within. Using a corrupted elder brain to direct the infected. This elder brain would be the "absolute".

No, the 'thing' controlling the Elder Brain would be the Absolute.

The end of Act 1 is going to happen where the tadpole are implanted into the cultists. Using or not the tadpole is going to have an impact at that point in the story.

I can already hear all the crying about whatever is going to happen, because people don't want to assume their decisions when they don't like the consequences that comes with them.

I still think the tadpole is a red herring meant to divert our attention from what the story's true endgame will be.
