I am on Windows 10 and the game has never once started up for me since launch. I have tried Direct X and Valkan and neither works, my graphics drivers are up to date. I have tried running as admin from the file location and doing so while holding shift, I have reinstalled the game multiple times. Steam shows I have spent a total of 53 minutes playing Baldur's gate, all of which is just spam attempting to start it almost every day. Can we get a fix for this or at least acknowledgment that someone is aware of the issue and working on it?

When trying to run from file location I get VCRUNTIME140_1.dll error.

When starting through steam I get a Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 x64 Minimum Runtime and Microsoft Visual C++ 2019 x64 Minimum Runtime error after which the launcher opens, I press Play on either Vulkan or DirectX 11 and the Larian Crash Reporter immediately comes up without ever seeing a game screen.

I have seen several threads in here with the same or similar problems, mostly the above suggestions and then the thread sort of dies out without the problem ever being solved or getting an official response of any sort.

I ran into this issue with BGIII (and several other games, actually). Your case is probably simpler than mine though, as what probably happened was that part or all of Visual C++ got corrupted or wiped out. Here's what I did:

1. Go to settings
2. Go to apps
3. Find Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 and 2019
4. Uninstall all apps by those name through the apps screen. If they uninstall, skip to step 6
5. If they don't uninstall, Microsoft has an uninstaller that deals with corrupted or missing files of this sort. It can be found here
6. Try to launch the game again, and it'll attempt to reinstall the now missing files as part of the setup process

I gave that a try and I don't have the 2017 or 2019 at all. This is also the only game that won't start including Divinity 2 which is almost the same engine and made by the same people. There really doesn't seem to be any reason it shouldn't be starting.
