Hey, I killed the two deathknight patrols and made my way to a merchant with tons of armor that I can't reach. He just attacked me so I killed him. How do I get to all that stuff behind him? Was I supposed to trade with him somehow??

You can't get to the stuff behind him, or at least no one has reported a way I have seen.

You can trade with the guy you killed for some e1quipment (but not the good stuff behind the fence)and learn a few new skills very cheaply.
