Third Playthrough and I still cannot figure out how to light a torch. Something like this should not be a mystery.

Feedback or Suggestion.
Put this into the tutorial.

Agreed. It should simply be "use", just assume the toons found some flint along the way.

Btw, you equip it and dip in a fire source.

I believe the tutorial popup window on torches shows up in the Ancient Ruins (or whatever those ruins are called that Shadowheart is trying to get into). However, it might only pop up if you go in the expected entrance, through the locked door past the bandits/explorers who call dibs on the Nautiloid crash site.

The torch tutorial should be on the actual tutorial on the ship, given that not everyone investigates those ruins. And/or it should simply be "use"

Youd normally need a tinderbox or something simular to make a improptu fire. That said simply giving torches a 'use' function wouldnt be gamebreaking imo. Currently you need an excisting fire source and like..... come on. Im trying to light this thing because we dont have a current active light source xD

One strange thing is that you can have multiple torches in your inventory, some that have been lit and others that haven't been. The "lit" quality is persistent. Swap a lit torch one into a weapon hand and it will always be lit. Swap an unlit torch and you'll have to find a fire source or drop a candle to light it.

This seems like unnecessary busy work to me. In other games if you have a torch in inventory, it's assumed you know how to light it with a flint or something if you pull it out. This could be streamlined without breaking immersion, I think.

Agreed, torches should always be lit with no action on the part of the player.

I agree the use of torches is a janky and obtuse. What I did find is that candles have a "use" function on them and not encumbering. While they have low light range on them individually, you "can" use it to light other things. Drop it on the ground, use it to turn it on, then light the torch in your hand, and pick up the candle again to keep it with you.

Kind of treat the candle as a tinder box if you want to think of it that way, just a lot of extra steps.

And yes, you can dip your weapons into the candle to add fire damage or burn flammable surfaces.
