This is a very to the point thread to address a single issue, so I hope you guys read it:
- PLEASE reduce how long the dice animation takes!!
As it stands right now, the entire dice roll animation takes approximately 6 seconds from the moment the player clicks the die on the screen to the moment in which you can click again to end the entire thing. This doesn't count an extra second or so before the die actually appears on the screen. The fact this takes so long completely breaks the tension behind a dice roll and also obstructs the flow of dialogue.
For comparison's sakes, in Disco Elysium, the entire animation takes approximately 1 second from the moment you select the option, and the results are immediately shown, without the need for additional player input. The game also colours the success as green and failure as red, so if a cutscene happens due to the result (Again, it happens immediately no input needed), you can instantly tell whether you failed the roll.
In my opinion, this helps keep the tension of the dice roll up, and also keeps the game flowing. I've even had a couple situations in BG3 in which I've opted for a specific dialogue choice solely because it has no dice roll, it just ends up getting in the way of the game. I like dice rolls in general, but being this slow hampers the experience.
