I really like the character models.
I've seen some people complain that they're '' too attractive '', per usual people always complain either way.
I mean I see a lot of people mocking others for complaining when a character '' isn't attractive enough '' but it's not a one-sided thing at all...
But uh, I think that the Western industry often has a problem with janky looking models, I mean I really love Obsidian as a studio but The Outer Worlds is a good example of that imo.
They have that Bethesda jankiness and oddness, they look like plastic mannequins rather than people.
It's not about attractiveness tho, just I dunno. The textures, rigging etc.
They look more like those '' humanoid robots '' irl.
Mass Effect Andromeda is another good example.
That's not to say that they need to look super realistic, the models in the FF7 remake for example look incredible and are stylized but blends with a realistic aesthetic.
But with a lot of Western games it's like they want to make them look realistic but can't, and it becomes really obvious because we have great examples to compare them with.
I don't really care about TLOU2 and I think that the praise of the graphical fidelity is a little bit overblown but I still think that the character models look really great.
This game isn't quite at that level but they still read to me like actual people and not mannequins.
Scenery here is really well done. The Underdark especially, looks awesome.
To add the required complaining, we can't pan the camera up. If we could do this, then things would look even better. If there was a night cycle, it would be great as well.
This too, the starting area is really cool too.
We haven't seen much of the armor and clothing yet and I don't like the look of most of it yet ( really don't like the heavy set Minthara wears especially ) but there's some nice looking ones too. Lae'Zel's looks great, so does the Warlock and Fighter starting ones.
Lakrissa's also looks cool I wish we could get that.
I've seen gear in the datamined content that I like tho but the robes are definitely lacking even there but I imagine they'll add more.
I mean I prefer more stylized and cartoony gear, but with the context of this game specifically in mind I like what I've seen in the datamined sets for female characters thus far at least. The male ones look quite generic and flat imo tho, the female gear is a bit more ornamental at least.
But that's just my personal tastes, the leather armor for example is ZzZzz but the Drow set looks neat.
So I believe at least that Larian is capable of creating gear that looks aesthetically appealing too.
I imagine that cultural gear in particular is going to have more personality to it than just '' brown leather jacket ''.
