So I haven't seen this noted anywhere so figured I'd post it here, so it at least is something you can try to test. While playing BG3 on Steam, when I pick "Vulkan" for my choice of API, the menu screen looks blurry. Fonts have a washed out, heavily aliased look as does the rest of the UI. Here's my specs:

CPU: Intel I-7 7700 @4.20
Graphics: GTX 1080 (latest drivers installed)
RAM: 16 GB
Desktop Resolution: 3840x2160 60hz (Vizio 4K TV)

When I view Options from the main menu, it says the game is set to 3840x2160-60hz.

Note that when I switch to DX11 the problem goes away.

I'm a bit puzzled by this, as it feels like my setup is fairly typical, except maybe the output to the 4K TV, although I know a number of folks who do that as well. The problem persists after the main menu, when I run the game. Strange side note: When I run the actual game it flipped the resolution up to max of 4096x2160.

I would like to gain the benefits of running BG3 with a newer API. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem: the text either looks super pixelated or blurry, and the resolution changed by itself from 3840x2160 to 4096x2160. Things are ok-ish in 1920x1080 though

Vulkan is super blurry on my TV. Haven't gone back to it. Sticking to DX11 for now, which is really sharp and nice. I think it comes to the fact graphic cards don't handle some parameters well with it, like image quality.

I have a different issue with Vulkan in BG3. It causes my FX8350 to overheat to the point it causes a thermal shutdown, which I find odd because my RX Vega 64 should have no trouble handling anything Larian can do in Vulkan. DX11, however, works just fine and causes no thermal issues whatsoever.

Same here , I play on a sony 4k hdtv and with vulkan is blurry and washed out, switching do dx11 solved it but I'd like to try new api too, but this kind of configuration (pc--->4k tv) has some sort of bugs ???

There is a workaround, open to c:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin and edit the property of bg3.exe (under compatibility tab select change "high DPI settings", check "High DPI scaling override Scaling performed by" Application. Doing this the game's graphic is crisp but I hope for an ufficial solution.

Hello everyone,

this problem seems still to exist. I've just installeds BG3 and to set it up is still so buggy.
- At first the game does not detect my 4k screen as 4k so I have to fight with a 1k resolution which then spreads over to my second monitor. Makes it impossible to configure.
- When I right click BG3 to change options in steam the following frame is so small I cannot do anything, and I cannot make it any larger because there is no option for it but an "x" to close it.
- After changing the resolution to 4k everything looks so blurred and bad with vulcan.
- It even put changes to my taskbar! So its double it's former size I have to manually fix this.

My rig:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600
VGA: KFA2 GeForce® RTX 2070 Super EX
RAM: Gskill F4-3200C15D-16GVR Memory D4 3200 16GB C15 RipV K2 2X 8GB, 1,35V
MB: Asus Prime X470-Pro
Screen: Samsung QLED 65Q85R (HDMI)
