Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems [PLEASE HELP] 8 fps with high specs

The game starts at +120 fps, but within 5 minutes of play it sinks to 29 fps, dipping sickeningly for no reason to under 10 fps so that I can't even input commands.

I have an i7-7700HQ, a GTX 1080, and 32 GB of RAM.

I recently moved the entire game to my SSD, nothing changed.
I downloaded the test profile as suggested in the FAQ.
I have tried every single performance tip on Reddit going back 3 years.
I have monitored my CPU and it never goes above 40% (on any core).
I have monitored the GPU and it never goes above 60%.
I recently completely reinstalled windows to rule out malware.
My graphics driver is up-to-date.
The only thing I haven't tried is rolling back to an older driver.

I have over 400 hours in the game without a problem like this!
Please help!

Try uninstalling drivers with DDU and keep the ones that windows update installed for you (don't install newest driver from nvidia website).
I have 1080 TI and it seems that's the only thing that helped me (and i had this issue with other games too).

This totally worked. I do get the frame dips but my average is much, much higher now. Thank you.
