So I really never did the grove stuff. I broke the raid and traded with the merchants. I recruited Wyl and rescued Sazza and thats it. I wanted stuff in the goblin camp so I went there and bought my gear then poisoned them. I rescued Halsin and agreed to let him help. Then I camped and when I came back I forgot about him. Apparently he just stood there in human form in his prison area. I killed all the goblin leaders and returned to the grove and even had the party and romance. I then went on to complete most of the above ground content. At 4th level I realized I hadn't been told to go to the underdark yet. I looked for Halsin and found him hanging about in his prison area. I spoke with him and he said he'd meet me in the grove but he never showed. I went back and he was still standing in his area. I repeated the conversation and this time he left the area and was never heard from again.

I have rested dozens of times and searched the entire Grove. Initially Kagha was waiting by the ritual site as if she were with Halsin but I spoke with her and later she was standing on the cliff above the site. I found her letter while searching for Halsin so when I spoke to her again she gave me the speech related to that.

The quest has not advanced past meet Halsin in the grove. He isn't there or anywhere. I tried killing Nettie and I stole the wolf rune from Rath to open that area. After I killed Nettie he attacked and I killed him. No other hostilities.

I finally just searched the underdark. I never did get any guidance. I failed every skill check in the place so I had to kill basically everyone except the robots. The cleric never appeared either. I only found 2 merchants in the UD and both were in the mushroom guys' area and were hostile. No extra magic missile damage of helm of blasting for me. I made a greatsword and since the only enemy left was the kua-toa and the spectator (the poor hook horrors and minotaurs all got pushed off giant mushrooms and the bulette is easy to kill) I took the raft.

I even failed the check with the duergar on the raft so I had to fight them there. Easy enough fight. I did get the bug where one of your guys gets killed and ends up back in camp while the fight continues. I won the fight and my active party were all in the ending cut scenes so IDK if they self-rezed or are even with me.

Anyway I'd appreciate knowing any tricks that might get Halsin to re-appear. I'm not sure you could really go on to act 2 without him.

Have you search the camp? He should derp near 'playpen' or what is that thing in there.
They will wipe saves for sure so it deosn't really matter.

I have the same exact thing.

What happened in my case is; I went to the castle, and found Halsin in the cage. He told me to kill all the Goblin leaders, I did that, and then killed the rest of the castle since they all got hostile towards me (this was not unexpected).

Since this took me some time to complete, I sortof forgot about Halsin, and went back to the Grove, where all the Thieflings are packed and ready, and all started thanking me for helping them. I spoke to Zevlor, and he said, there will be a party tonight at my camp. Sure invite yourselfs why not.

So I had a long rest, we had the party, it was fun and all, we had some drinks and we reminisce about the good old days, and nothing seemed out of place.

From what I read on this Forum, Halsin was suppose to also be there, but he was not, off course not, he was still standing in the castle minding his own business. So later I wen't back, he was standing there looking a bit lost. I told him "Snap out of it man all the leaders are dead". He told me "Awesome come see me in the grove or whatever", turned into a mouse and ran off. He never showed up at the grove.

I suspect the game did not expect me to go back to the grove and talk to the Thiefling leader before talking to Halsin.

Well in my case, i went and cleared out the 3 goblin leaders and cleared most of the place. Only then did i go into the dungeon where Halsin is kept...he was not there. No one was there, no goblins or wargs and Halsin's cage was open. So now i have no clue where he is. Likely i will need to restart .
