In DO:S2 it may have been quirky to put a barrel of oil next to an AI NPC and then blow them all to bits but I think for this game less of DO:S2 in some aspects is better. I think its more preferable to have AI behave more human like in BG3. The current AI will still let you build a petrol/fuel station next to them and blow it up without even questioning what the player is doing. Also if the AI is in conversation it ignores an entire war happening around them even if fireballs and thunderbolts are being thrown, they need to break conversation and realize their surroundings. The ability to cheese some AI by stabbing them and then they go into conversation mode and say something like "stop that" after losing half their life also makes no sense cause while their still saying "stop that" you can finish them off with another character. AI needs to preserve its life as if it were a human in multiplayer, its very hard to cheese a human player and once again I get its an early access copy paste from DO:S2 but I think the game would be better without those features.
It may be better to rather allow us to put characters to sleep, daze or blind them first, then put barrels near them to blow them up, that makes sense as long as there are no immediate characters in the surrounding seeing our actions. Also suspicious actions like a loud ass explosion could at least take non essential NPC's off their way points so they can investigate. There was a crew of 4 goblins, 3 were up stairs getting murdered with fireballs while the 4th stayed downstairs taking a piss still talking as if the other 3 were alive. I know how complex AI systems are but there needs to be improvements in these aspects so that single player across all games can make a leap forward. The reason players love multiplayer FPS is because the AI hasn't given a challenge or improved since the FPS Fear or Crysis. But with "Isometric" RPG's there is alot more room for AI improvement than in FPS in my opinion and we love RPG's for their single player experience a lot more than any other genre
