Since they plan to launch with PHB content I'm assuming that means they'll include variant humans but has there been any official statement on adding them?

Lord, I really do hope they implement variant. I'm a boring guy who loves playing a boring human, but more often than not a +1 to every stat seems like a total waste. Would much rather be able to put +2 into one stat, even if it means not getting a feat.
