It was announced that Patch 3 will be released soon and that it will offer branching for a primary (main) and secondary branch of the game to let players decide which savegames they want to stick with. Steam will offer branching, Stadia won't (for now).

What about the GOG version? Will it support branching?

seriously why would you not want to get the updates.

the only exception is if you are on your first playthrough and don't wanna start again....

and even so, I , would restart.

Somebody could be most of the way through a really interesting playthrough (going down a different path) and do not want to start again just yet!

Anyway, these branches will definitely be available on GOG, as this feature is already supported.

It's a good question. I've found that you get the same effect by using the standalone and just installing to different locations. I use an earlier version to test out mods.

By default the standalone installs to drive letter / GOG games and

GOG galaxy installs to program files (x86) / GOG galaxy / Games /

GOG:

-Select the game from the owned games section
-Click the settings button top right and select manage installation > configure
-To disable auto-updates, there is a checkbox “automatically update to new version” > uncheck this box to stay on the current patch
-Unchecking this box will let you roll back to a previous version

I'm going to opt out of the update for now.

Yeah, yer in the middle of something and would make us all cry.
However, I am sure you want to see the new stuff so:
1) You may be able to have multiple installations
2) If not you could swap installations manually via copying to a backup.

I'm excited to see the story changes. Hopefully they will add a new playable class as well.

It might actually be what they mean by story changes.
