It would be better than 'nice to have' were the player able to import basic characters built for other saved game instances.

So, if I want to start a new playthrough, I'd like to be able to import my own player-made characters into my party.

For that matter, it would be good had we an option to simply build all four party members anew at the character creation screen.

Any thoughts or interest?

That's planned as far as we know. (And it can be achieved with some effort already, as you're probably aware.)

Another planned system is customizable mercenaries.

Regarding character imports - I'd replace that with character creation that's campaign-independent, so you can just launch the game, make a character and save it for later. Which would be useful in general - say one day you feel like making a dozen characters and some time later you'd like to jump right into a new playthrough. Not 100% sure, but I think Solasta does it.

I would like to see just that. I want to be able to make a new character that is independent of the campaign so I can use it in any game I play by myself or with friends. they already auto level the npc's so you could do the same for my saved characters so it would be easy to join a friends campaign where ever they are in their campaign.
this way I could roll several characters and bring what ever would best fit the party.
