If I missed a similar topic/questions elsewhere in the forums, please excuse me.

I was wondering if there has been any indication (or even evidence from Larian's previous games) to suggest that in BG3 party members will leave the party if they feel your goals do not match theirs? I distinctly recall Korgan in BG2 departing the party in a huff when I was being too much of a do-gooder. It was jarring to lose a useful Dwarf fighter but made the world/characters feel more real, as generally speaking we are unlikely to follow people whose objectives do not alight with our own. I am not familiar with DnD 5e rules so am ignorant if this has any effect on this (assuming that alignment was one of the key reasons Korgan left in BG2)

Also, are there likely to be some more 'normal' recruitable party members who aren't horny 24/7, a vampire, a werewolf (apparently), magic item dependent for sustenance, pact-sworn to a devil? Personally I haven't resonated with any of the current party members and it all feels so OTT, both in writing and dialogue. I understand from the forums that plenty of people here really like the current companions but I'd love to see a little more balance, if that makes sense?

I keep reminding myself that this is EA and Larian could be testing the waters with pushing the more extreme characters on us for feedback but I'd still like to know if they are capable of writing companions that don't have such intense personalities or backgrounds?

In BG2 it was a matter of alignment and reputation. Evil characters would complain and then leave if you became the paragon of good and good ones if you became a despicable villain. Neutrals were slightly more tolerant to good and would only depart at the lowest possible reputation. You can see the table here.

As for BG3: Swen has said the companions very much have their own minds and will ditch you or even try to kill you if they hate you enough. (Source: this video 12:24.)

Regarding more companions... From what we know now, we're going to get those 8 origins, as well as customizable generic mercenaries (and custom party created at the start). Previously (Reddit AMA) they've stated that they want all companions as origins, but it seems they may be reconsidering adding non-origin ones (one of the post-EA-launch interviews, I believe). I very much hope they're going to add a lot of non-origin companions of various "richness". I personally like companions that are more "special" than your Average Joe (though it really depends on the execution), but I'm not really a fan of any of the ones we've been shown. The horniness doesn't help.

Thank you for that information, it's reassuring to hear that a similar mechanic will be in place in BG3.

Personally I am fine with outlandish companions/backgrounds but when the whole party is comprised so, I'm not so keen. In BG2 we had Aerie, Haer'Delis and perhaps Viconia who fitted that bill, in terms of unusual race anyway.

I've never been particularly into romances in RPGs anyway so when everyone wants to get in your pants it's just tiresome. I wouldn't complain so much if it were the case in real life however.

Astarion will leave if you do enough things that displease him. He first warns you taht you suck and then he just leaves.
