As much as I love the main story drivers (the Grove, the Hobgoblins etc) I really am enjoying the small stuff just as much. Today I came across a site recently vacated by the Harpers and looking a bit closer, the pouch protected by the spiders..... Another little gem was the school room in the blighted village and Shadowheart suddenly exposing a little bit of her character when a certain book is read. I think this is what makes BG3 special and makes me think/hope there might just be some really awesome stuff around the corner. More character development please Larian! More subtle surprises! Really interested to know what background standouts are making the game special for you....

I adore Scratch and the Owlbear cub. I haven't enjoyed animals in a game as much since DA:O.

I love the little surprise comments every now and then when you look at a book or pass a landmark with certain companions in the group.

I LOVE the fact that there are little details like Astarion actually taking damage from flowing water! He even refuses to cross or tries to find another way around which has gotten me into some really interesting situations a few times!

Also the little abandoned picnics dotted around in random spots, notes that make you feel ABSOLUTELY awful if you take them from a freshly murdered corpse.

The gods damned windmill if you hit the wrong button ouch

Larian included these little rewards for exploration and taking notice in DOS2 as well, and I love it.

Totally agree. Larian want you to explore as you say and that makes the world interesting and less predictable. I wonder if these "surprises" and little details have a randomness to them or are they just scripted to occur like the set piece encounters.... I love the animals as well, they make Faerun a fantasy world rather than just an environment to follow a story in. The squirrels are certainly more intense this time round smile

Just wanted to add my thanks to Larian as I totally agree!!! So many little gems to be discovered, I'm in awe. It's wonderful. And Astarion gets ACID DAMAGE if you force him into flowing water (which I did by mistake before his reveal) and when he said it 'burns like acid' I'm like OMG IT DOES I'M SO SORRY. I love getting to play fetch with Scratch, and talking to the animals. I love the party comments as we wander around. I just love everything about this game. <3

I agree, I had tons 9f nice little scenes. Just now, I've read the books in the arcane tower and Wyll commented how that all is nice and an easy read, but how he prefer more adventurous tales. It was hilarious.
Oh and the fact, that you can hug a robot.

I like the really small minutia ... in the old BG, when characters walked across a wooden floor and then onto a carpet, the footstep noises changed appropriately. Does BG III give us the "shush-mush" carpet sound, too?
