I came up the vines on the back of the village near the sleeping bugbear. I did a sneak attack and killed the bugbear. I went in the house to the left. I did another sneak attack to kill the goblin at the door. It aggroed the other goblins. I'm assuming there are goblins on the roof. They can hit me just fine, but I have the Obstruction Limitation and can not hit them.

Exactly the same scenario and issue just happened to me during my last session.

Despite multiple attempts to handle the goblin camp, I have thus far failed. I can walk past them and move on to the gnolls and Waukeens Rest areas, but dispatching the goblin leaders seems too hard to accomplish?

Granted, this is a new type of rpg experience for me, having previously played through stuff like Dragon Age, The Witcher, Dragon's Dogma, Mass Effect, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc. and multiple times through each of those games on various settings. Still the mechanics and logic of Baldur's Gate 3 seems to escape me or to be of such esoteric mumbo-jumbo that it defies rationality?

Like the example that you cite, is this early access mindest meant to punish players or is there some obstuse trick to help figure it all out?

The rooftops are your friend. There are only two goblins on the roof of the house that you come upon once you climb up the vines in the back. Climb up to the roof, sneak attack the goblins and shove them off the roof. Then you can snipe everything below with impunity.

Or, talk your way through with a tadpole or skill checks. Having invisibility spell/potion really helps if you plan to sneak on them. Although, from the bugbear side I think you can get on the roof w/o triggering the fight.
