Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Penumbra's dagger problems...

So way before I got this quest, I went and raided the Verdistis police chief's office and stole all the goods from the treasure chests inside. Of course I sold it all. Hours later, I rescue Penumbra and she tells me her dagger is in there. Ooops. I don't see it in there anymore. I'm thinking I must have stolen it a long time ago (when I got the magic lockpick quest from the thieves guild guy downstairs). Is there any way to solve this quest now? If not, anyone know of a saved game editor so I can just give myself the item? =).

Are you sure you found the dagger,,If I remember correctly it is hard to find
as it is in a book on the table, I think.

No, Quatrain, P.'s dagger is in the guardhouse armoury, in a chest.
The book dagger you are talking about is one of the sacrifice items in the thieves guild, right?

You can always ga to all the sellers and check for the dagger. IIRC they wont loose it, you can always buy it back from them. (its a very good item according to them).

If it doenst help, well them i suggest the fix like kiya did.

I got a problem too. I do have the dagger, but i cant find penumbra. Can anyone telle me where i can find her please?

Did you visit the summoner Corinna already? She should have given you a quest to free P.

P. (an assassin lady) is then in the thieves guild/Verdistis/cellar of the Ducal Inn, far east. Free her, then she returns to Corinna's house. Speak to P. again, she will then give you the dagger quest.

One other thing. Make sure Corinna doesnt die the first time you meet her! Otherwise p. wont talk to you anymore.

Okay I have a problem with the Penumbra's dagger as well as the Holy "strange sword" weapon. I had both of them, put them in my chest next to a portal and saved the game, now after reloading, they are gone! Can I get them back without going back to where I got them from? Thanx

That is strange...
Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder, then start the game, load your latest save and check the chest.
The Dynamic folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

A couple people have had problems with chests (weight bug and disappearing chests - broken links are fixed in a reply), but vanishing contents are pretty rare (except if you place items in the chest in Malcolm's house in Verdistis before finishing the quest that seals the house, which unfortunately also clears the chest contents).
