I found mods, tried to install them using Candor - but they never loaded. I think the problem has to do with Candor not recognizing BG3 and not doing it right - it basically just moved the mods, still zipped, into the mods folder and I don't think the manual reference file was properly set up by it at all. So, how would I install these manually? Are they supposed to be zipped - are they supposed to be moved to folders? What is the reason and rhyme for the seemingly random strings to identify them - should they be renamed to those random strings or put in folders with those string names?

I am also interested in this. I see people using the Mods in other posts and I am super jelly. Any guides on how to install mods into the latest patch would be appreciated.

I am totally unsure if and when Larian is going to actually read this stuff - if someone knows how to tag a moderator in particular we might get an answer sooner.

If you have a .pak you put .pak into: C:\Users\User\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
Then edit modsettings.lsx in notepad that is located in C:\Users\User\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles with the appropriate line included in the mod readme.

You can't put non-pak into their respective folders because those folders are archived inside the .pak files in the game.

You can make your own pak files with Larian export tool from the files you downloaded however. There is a button to create package.
https://github.com/Norbyte/lslib/releases/tag/v1.15.1

Edit: Also if you want to brute force it completely, you unpack the original .pak files of the game, insert your modded files in and then pak it back up, but upcoming game updates will check for version missmatch and remove your mod.

Now that should help. I think my problems are just with the paks still being zipped up

Yes, unzip the paks before you put them in the mod folder.

Candor didn't do that - I'll see if the mod.lsx is set up right once I level up once.

Candor isn't supposed to do that, you asked for a way to manually install.

I did, because whatever Candor did was wrong.

Well I'm using Vortex and I even downloaded the fix and installed it to my D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Baulders gate 3\Data\Mods directory. I believe the mods go and the mods still don't work. I either have it in the wrong directory or it's because it's still a .PAK or a combo of the two.

Eh, something is still wrong. I think I know which one didn't load - which is odd since the included .lsx file was from a mod that required that mod first. But if I'm manually adding this in, I need to know what the point is of this line:

<attribute id="UUID" type="FixedString" value="6cdf7b52-6dd7-4d2f-88b6-745e7199ecef"/>

If I add in a mod manually, I'm going to need a similar value and I am clueless what this long hexadecimal string refers to or how I figure out what to put in its place.
