I walked through the early access at one point without summoning the Quazit and finally getting through the magic mirror. The Necromancy of Thay book was still in the same spot, no traps going off or anything. I was able to retrieve the book open it so on and so forth. But the last few times I've gone through after summoning the Quazit Shovel, and getting through the Magic Mirror the book is already gone. I was wondering if someone had gotten to it before I did or if this was just a bug. The first time without the Quazit was fine, I haven't tried since but I really want the tome.

It happened multiple times to me too. Sometimes when I go past the mirror the traps are already firing in there and the book is gone, but I haven't been able to understand what causes it.
In one case I went past the mirror, then left to recover the key to the book and when I came back it was gone, with traps firing. I just figured I should have picked it up right away.
In another case I got past the mirror, saved and quit the game. When I resumed playing, traps were firing (they weren't when I saved).
Last time I was there I killed the undead in the caskets and when I went past the mirror, the traps were firing. I reloaded, ignored the caskets, went past the mirror, recovered the book and then dispatched the undead.
I'm pretty sure in none of these occasions I had a quazit with me.

When that happens the traps have knocked the book behind the altar. You can get it out by going turn based and moving the camera angle to see behind it.

I didn't know that. I just assumed it had been destroyed. I'll try that if it happens again. Thanks!

I've been to the place 4 times now I think, and every time I entered the space before the mirror, the trap was already set off, I could see the orange damage numbers floating up from the other side of the mirror.
So I thought this was normal, only now do I read here that it is a trap supposed to set off by the party.

This is still happening. I'll check behind the altar and get back to you. It would be strange if that is the case though, as the trap should not have activated unless you have moved the book.
This has happened every playthrough since I took the book the first time.

It happened to me for the first time this playthrough, that the traps set off before I had a chance to enter. But when you highlight stuff with ALT, you can see the book and still grab it.

I have problems giving this book to Gale to feed him. I can tell him, I have a magic artifact and when he ask to give it to him, I only can say that I want to hold on to it. Is that a bug or do I have to read the book before giving it to Gale?

The trap around the book triggers (apparently) randomly. Save just before you enter the hidden part of the lair. Walk up to the door. If you see a bit of shaking and hear a small amount of noise, reload and do something slightly different before walking near the door - I usually walk around the room and pick up loot. Eventually, you will get a scenario where the trap isn't already active (no shaking, no noise). It usually doesn't take me more than 1-2 tries.

I don't know if that is a bug or a hidden trigger, but it is a pain in the neck.
