When my combat started, Gale, Shadowheart, and my custom PC were standing basically on top of each other. Gale went first and cast Mirror Image on himself, but it also affected the other 2 characters. It was GREAT ... but also probably shouldn't have happened smile. (My Shadowheart knows Mirror Image, but my arcane trickster rogue does not.)

Good catch, ealan ^.^

If you can spare the time and effort, please put this through as a bug report using Larian's official bug form as well (https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3?ver=4.1.90.6165#modal) The more data points they have, the better the odds of these little things getting fixed.

Wonder why this would happen, do self buffs target a minuscule area that should only affect the caster and the others overlapped into it counting?

It does appear to happen that way with several spells, yes, but the more individual reports they get and can reproduce, the better.

Oh nice, thanks Niara!
I thought this WAS the official place to post bugs. I'll check this one out.

Aaaand, sent!
Thanks again.

I think I know how to reproduce this... Targetting for spells is done as a circle; for single-target spells, it is a circle of zero width (a point). If your character 'footprint' (the circle that shows up under your character when pointing/selecting them) intersects the targeting circle, it works.

Normally characters cannot overlap, so no problem - single-target spells stay single target. But after just climbing up/down a vertical surface, the characters can overlap. Meaning single-target spells can affect several at once.

Invisibility for everyone!

[Evil laugh before running off and testing...]

Both are official places, because we know Larian has officials that receive information gathered directly from here.
The other form goes directly to them first hand; it helps there is you're clear and concise in the details of the issue, and can provide either screenshots, or if appropriate, a save file at a point where the bug can be easily replicated.
