Another wide-ranging question - one of many.

The descriptions of the nature magic and weather magic spells isn't very good - to put it mildly. I'm experimenting with them now but to save time (and maybe benefit others) I'll ask simultaneously.

Is there any clear choice of which spells are better for different purposes? For example spell X has a wider range of effect and will hurt more enemies at the same time, spell Y does better damage but only hits one enemy, spell Z does less damage but also paralyzes the an enemy etc. Clearly the numbers I see don't mean what they seem - spells with relatively low damages shown can kill a bunch of enemies at once - perhaps the numbers are damage per time unit?

The wind spell shows a higher damage number but I have a strong feeling it is not simply 25% more powerful than the others for the same mana.

Perhaps more creatures are resistant to Air damage?

I'm not that far yet, so I can't help you, sorry!

Weather Magic
Meteor Storm
Fire damage, multiple hits, small area, extendible duration.

Acid Rain
Poison damage, multiple hits, small area, extendible duration

Wind of Furies
Air damage, single hit, cone shaped travelling toward target (or target area in case of right click) starting at caster. Not sure but think the extra duration increases the time until which the spell starts to dissipate (Which mean a longer cone).

Lightning Storm
Water damage, single hit, huge area between 3/4 & 4/5 of my screen (1280x960).

Nature magic
Insect Swarm
Ethereal damage, lots and lot and lots of hits, small area, extendible duration.

Spikes
Piercing damage, single hit, very small area (trap sized), lingers red circled NPCs crossing the area will receive damage, extendible duration.

Earthquake
Guessing earth damage (it doesn't show what type of damage), single hit, same area as lightning storm. Peculiarity is that you can't chain multiple castings of this spell together that will result in a can't use spell now message.

Hammer
Bone damage, single hit, small area, extra is a stun on all red circled NPCs being targetted.
