Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks best ONE HANDED weapon?

Why? Because i want the stats of the shield to be valid!
They are not valid or usable when using a 2 handed weapon.
It's early in my game. I have lots to do before stormfist.
One thread i read said SWORD OF CHAOS! Wrong it's 2 handed.
In a previous game I had the MACE OF CHAOS. 50 to 100
killpoints and with the thief's poison added it was very
deadly. BWAAA i can't find it in this game. I remember
that the elven merchant sold it to me but it is not comming
up in his inventory. I am stuck with a bearded axe.
low points to 50. BTW: mages love to hear the splat of
a mace hitting something. ( dont want to be gory here)

I believe the Nobleman's Sword and The Sword of Gods are the best one-handed weapons in the game. The Nobleman's Sword is available in the Holy Weapon quest and The Sword of Gods is lying around in the Wastelands.

wouldn't those probably appear available after stormfist castle
invitation? Not that i am complaining mind you! After all I
deliberately did not put any restrictions on this question.
BTW: i refuse to get the invitation untill i run out of Quests.
I want to be all i can be before the storm hits!

Handee is right in that those can be (depending on their random stats) the best one handed swords in the game, and you're right in that they can be available only after stormfist castle.

I can't think of any other unique one-handed swords - however Geoff (the blacksmith in Ars) always sold a variety, and some of the randomly generated "named" swords, while only having dmg up to 65, had wonderful extras as frost, mana drain, death blow, etc and thus were partially extremely powerful. So if you are inclined visit him and reload repetitively, and see what luck generates.

The Nobleman Sword is a unique item quest and as such an be done whenevr you want. You must get all 3 items (dagger, amulet, sword) and sacrifice the dagger and amulet to get the sword. You must have high enough levels to beat the areas needed to get the items, but I did it before I ever even entered the castle. Also, enterig the astle should be almost the last thing you do in this area. The dagger is in the thieves guild, the sword is in Iona's dungeon (which can be entered due to a bug prior to entering the castle), and I dont recall where the amulet was right now. Check the links in the sticky and go to Kiya's Screenshot Graveyard. Great maps and walkthroughs for this quest!

Sherri - from where do you enter Iona's Dungeon per the bug you mentioned? And are you sure whether it is a general bug, and one not resolved by the patches?

I will even wait 20 Divine Divinity Days to get the best i can
get. ( reffering to my quest to get item with pickpocket ).

You can get into Iona's Lair by using the key given to you for Nericon's Garden and then touching the gravesite that leads to Iona's grave. As for if the patch changed that, Kiya or Raze probaly know better than I. The following is from Kiya's fabulous website. http://www.kiya1.de/images/Holy.html

"But a bug allows you to get this sword earlier. The alchemist Walker in Ars Magicana has a key in his back room, it was meant for his chest in the bedroom, but opens the cemetary as well.
Another possibility is Blake's key for the Nericon Garden (you can access this one with lockpick lvl 5 - but only via the right gate, not the left)"

i have the brisbane's armor/weapon set of reigning chaos. the sword alone does wicked crazy damage

brisbane's short sword of reigning chaos
brisbane's silver gauntlets of reigning chaos
brisbane's silver leggings of reigning chaos
brisbane's silver armor of reigning chaos
and etc... etc...

I havent found the helmet yet though
