My hero was a killing machine since act 2 and then all the sudden he becomes useless vs the boss. I dont mind the boss being so tough but at least make it where the only way to beat him isnt to use 200 health potions. I dont understand how after all these years companys stilll cant come up with a decent way of fighting and skill balancing. I know I can do twice as good as job as them in only a couple weeks. It amazes me.

Then prove it.
Make your own game.

believe me:
Critising what someone else has done is a LOT easier then actually fixing what is wrong in your opinion. I should know. 6 months ago I told a company to bin a 5 year project (made by students on the same type of internship I was there to extend that program). Now that I've graduated they've hired me to make the replacement program. Since then I've discovered that making a program is easy, making a decent program is hard, making a good program is really though (mostly due to inexperience in the language).
Oh well at least I am putting my money where my mouth is (or was).

Finally, victory in end battle, click here

It is possible and not by using 200 HP potions - learn to use tactic in a flexible way, instead of sticking to one from beginning to end.

I'm hoping for more people to give their input in this thread link I posted, so knowledge may be gathered - instead of scattering it everywhere.

yes but see, how many mana potions did you have to use, and wasnt your char at level 40? either way you had to use alot of potions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" />

when you say program do you mean programing? i dont know anything about programing i just meant basicaly the rules and mechanics of the fighting system to make it perfectly balanced among all classes and to have an emphasis on skill rather than potions which basicaly boiles down to you or your oponent not being able to be hit or hit which would make it where it would have to be more realistic

I used the programming just as an real life example to explain that saying something is easy to do and should be done is a lot different then actually doing it.

And frankly I don't believe you can do what you claim.
If you can get an algorithm for perfectly balanced game (and keep it an interesting game) then you should immediately put your ideas on paper. Use lots of details, lots of explanations why, etc. When you are finished I know a few companies who would love to pay you a lot just to get their hands on a manuscript that would tell them how to finally get their subscribers to shut up about class/profession/skill X being better then class/profession/skill Y.

Nope, Lertanze - my screenies were from lvl 40 and a level 30 char. I tried melee in lvl 40, cause I had the prob with the encumbrance bug as a lvl 30 char (did not buy a lot of skills). My lvl 40 char had more skill paths open.

I tried lvl 30 in ranged weapon, until I lost patience and whammed down my hammer spell. Only magic did not use as many potions as taking bow+magic.

Melee in lvl 40 + magic to stun took less potions than only magic.

My lvl 30 was a 1.42 char - my lvl 40 a 1.3 German save and saved into EV 1.42 before the battle.
