Area Loot: There needs to be a search area button thats looks in all the containers, and dead bodies, in the area and tells the player whats there. Basically like the players telling the DM, "we search the room", and the DM responds with "this is what you find...". It will help with alot of the complaints saying there are too many containers, with nothing in them, and too many items in the environment. The search radius should be fairly large, essentially an entire room. You could limit it by saying you can't search while hostile creatures are in the area.
You could even have a line by our lovely DM saying "you search the area...you find...", and the pop up of everything your characters found, every time you click the search area button. kind of like a small call back to "You must gather your party before venturing forth" pretty much every time you clicked to move to a new map from previous BG games.
The button should be on the players action bar (maybe the icon could be a magnifying glass), next to jump perhaps (it should also obviously have a hot key)Multi-selection:There should two types of multi selection. 1st click and drag multi selection (like trying to select multiple icons in a windows desktop), and 2nd a multi select through shift clicking items. Inventory list view: There should be an alternate inventory view similar to Dragon Age Origins, which displays the icon of the item, followed by its name as an alternative to the grid view. The list view should have filters for: each specific item type, only a specific character's inventory, all party members. Both views should have sort by: alphabetical order a-z, alphabetical order z-a, oldest item added, newest item added. Containers should also have list view as an option with the same sort functions, and filters. Also be sure to include tutorial messages, so that players know these new options exist, and how to use them.

I agree with 2 and 3.
I'd also like less empty (or full of useless things) containers and I'd really love if we could only open what's contain something... At the moment we have to open everything and seriously, that sucks.
About 1 sure, the idea ooks great... But I wouldn't like it to become something like "speak with the dead" with wich you have to try every 20m.
