So, I long-rest, equip my team with all their best gear, grab some barrels, line up my scrolls and potions and Mind-Flayer tech, stealth up, position the team, buff the team ... and as I start dropping barrels (while stealthed) around Minotaur #1, the Bulette shows up, smashes most of the barrels and knocks us both prone. Neither druid nor Minotaur takes any damage, but combat has initiated.
The Bulette runs to the top of the mushroom tree for no apparent reason. The Minotaur plots its next move for ages, then decides its next move will be to stand there. Its friend, also in combat, does the same.
My Druid runs away and shoots back a fire arrow, igniting the remaining barrels and doing a whopping 6 damage to the Minotaur. She has no bonus action left to hide.
The Bulette burrows away. The Minotaur stands there, as does his friend.
Druid casts Moonbeam on Minotaur. It stands there. Rest of team shuffle about in the shadows behind the Druid, occasionally tossing an arrow at the Minotaur. Minotaur #1 dies.
The exact same process is repeated for Minotaur #2. Team takes zero damage.
Has the AI for the Minotaurs been downgraded, or does the Bulette showing up confuse them somehow? And why don't they move out of moonbeams?
I've not seen too many examples of terrible enemy AI, beyond a tendency to incur too many opportunity attacks and the usual pathfinding problems (Goblin camp exterior being the worst example), but I have seen this happen to a few people in online play-throughs, and it seems to have increased in frequency since patch 4.
I can't believe I'm about to reload the Minotaur fight because it was too easy!
