One of the important roles of the D&D cleric is to handle diseases. In fact, given that now in BG III simply eating a raw onion or a pineapple cures HP loss, disease may be one of the last things which are uniquely handled by divine magic. In the prior BG series, the most likely time a disease occurred was if you got bitten by a ghoul, in which case the affliction lasted only a few rounds, and so it was never worth a spell slot. But I can imagine other scenarios where Cure Disease spells might be a great asset. For example, imagine a swamp forest full of mosquitos and other biting insects, with will-o-wisps dancing about fallen rotten logs and toxic fungi hanging from low tree limbs. In a setting like this, the mere presence of the party characters in such a place might incur a periodic random chance of becoming infected. Likewise, a wound taken during combat might also have a chance for infection, with very dire consequences. I don't have BG III yet, so I'd like to ask, how does it handle disease?
