Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Maria's Quest HELPPPPP!!!!

I've had this quest for ages. Only just gone to Verdistis to do all the quests there before entering Stormfist.

I'm supposed to get a book back from Malcolm. Malcolm isnt in his house. Neither is the book!

When i go back to Maria. I can click on her, but doing so does not activate a conversation. i just click and click with no result. If i am in combat mode when i click on her i will get the usual `sheathe weapon` text but as soon as i do the conversation ends.

Also the quest has disappeared from my active quests.

are you sure, you were at the correct location? Malcolm's house is at 3. And the book is on his cupboard in the bedroom.

yes kiya it was the correct location and no the book or the person wasnt in the house.

i tried raze's item fix. this allows me to complete the quest, maria admires me (100) but i still cannot talk to her.

if i remember correctly i need to talk to her so she goes back to Veridistis and i can then buy my house... ARGH!

Malcolms house is now locked BTW. (probably waiting for me to buy it)

is there any way to get maria to talk? clicking does nothing, i can left click all day and no text will appear.

Hm, I guess, you accepted Malcolm's quest to kill her then - IIRC, she is non-receptive. If you do => no house - either way.

Can you ask to buy the house? Talk to Trevor in the Merchant's Guild.

trevor still says that i need an invite from a person who has lived in Verdistis all their life.

Maria still doesnt talk and wont move to verdistis (obviously i need to talk to her to make her do that)

Cannot kill maria because the person who offers that quest has now disappeared lol

(and no i didnt except his quest to kill maria. i turned it down)

(i'm assuming he disappeared when i exposed malcolm and gained free entry to the merchants guild cellar (for the `cosmo the cat` quest)

guess i'm well and truly stuffed for getting my house. is there anywhere else in the game that i could use as a homebase instead?

I just dump my stuff near a teleporter,homeless me.

I would have liked to build my own house actually,put an idea in the other forum.

i thought that items disappear after a while when left on the ground.?(a long time!)

You can leave things anywhere and they will remain. Take over any house you want, preferably one near a teleporter (and maybe merchants). Some people put a row of chests near a teleporter, some spread items out, some decorate houses. If you rearrange the plants and furniture in Joram's house, they will still be that way when you leave for the final area of the game.
