So I am new to the early access and both my wife and I have been playing quite a bit as of late, even trying out the multiplayer system. We are both really enjoying the game and always finding new things we missed. Myself, I have been playing as if it were set on some sort of ironman mode. Meaning if I wipe then start over from scratch with a new character, much like one would in a PnP. My 3rd go around is nearing the end of the EA ( or so I think based on what I have read ). My Drow Cleric met glorious death to the Redcaps near Auntie Ethel, my Githyanki Warrior getting completely wrecked by the infamous OP Phase Spider Matriarch. I have found much better success with my Knockback Eldritch Blasting Tiefling Warlock. Many a goblins and other baddies have been blasted off cliffs, bridges, and walls. Watching some become spider food brought a smile to my face as well.

Based on what she has told me and what I am seeing so far I feel as if the lvl cap should be raised to 5. it seems that it is possible, rather easily, to cap out. I understand based on some discussions that I have read that there is a power bump at lv 5 in the 5e world. My argument is that in its' current state lvl 5 is very much a reality. Add in that we are pretty much the Alpha/Beta testers and this allows Varian to see what kind of balancing issues arise from such a power bump.

As I play more and progress more within the multiplayer setting with my wife I will post more Feedback.

Many have agreed with you about level bump. EA would have benefited greatly from it. We'll see if Larian will actually do it. Honestly, they should have. Underdark would he better balanced that way, or they should have ended EA prior to Underdark.

They really should.

There's cheese they need to fix that will be completely out of whack with level 5 characters. Like lvl 5 Fighters doing alpha strikes with invisibility potions with two attacks and Action Surge (max 6 great weapon attacks before enemy gets a turn if you also win initiative?).

Or level 5 Wizards long resting after every fight and Fireballing away. 3rd level Magic Missiles are going to be so OP with a certain amulet as well (~30 damage a shot with 100% hit chance).

Spell UI should be redesigned as well before casters hit level 5. It's already messy and confusing with just two levels of spells.

I gave an exAmple of how the spider lair should go with 4 level 5 characters and proper stats. It was tough for level 5s.

If you haven't done so, check out my part of the thread https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=771617&page=3

It details how BG3 could play out for the spider lair if they implemented level 5 cap and D&D 5e rules more accurately.
