I noticed a lot of people responding positively to the weapon skills added. I have a suggestion instead of giving them a cooldown until rest instead mayb link them to taking disadvantage ,aking it very much like dungeons and dragons of old called shot system. advantage can cross out disadvantage, thus maybe adding more use for true strike.

So you take disadvantage on your attack roll and you can use those abilities?

Interesting. Although using True strike is problematic because it is only designed to affect one target - so if you have a cleave type attack you would only have a regular roll on 1, disadvantage on the other and you would lose a turn, and be subject to concentration checks.

You know one of the things I found myself missing with Solasta was the lack of special attacks like these. They really do add a lot even if they can only be used sparingly.

There was another thread about this not to long ago where the idea of a general penalty of some kind be applied instead of limited use.

As I said there, I'd be ok with that type of system and also commented that I though it more akin to the older called shot system.

Personally I'd also like the current system to be expanded on and opened up a little.

Some people are against these attacks altogether though as they see them as too arcadey and/or not 5e(which they admittedly are not).

Personally I'd prefer a "-X to hit" instead of disadvantage. The Advantage/Disadvantage system in PnP 5e is great for its simplicity, but an issue is that multiple sources of Advantage are entirely nullified by a single source of disadvantage (and vice versa). So if you already had disadvantage to attack, there'd effectively be no penalty for using these weapon abilities.

Since the computer does all the work for BG3, it's reasonable for numerical bonuses/penalties to be added back in.

Alternatively some sort of cooldown might work, say D4 rounds. That way you cannot spam it, but you might be able to use it more than once in a fight.

So... if you already have disadvantage you can't use the special attacks? Otherwise every attack in dim light or whatever that gives a disadvantage will be a free cleave or bash.

I would prefer a penalty and free use over an arbitrary limitation of one per rest.
