I guess it‘s too late in development to get a system like that in place. For people unfamiliar: SWTOR has a party dialogue system where you get throw a dice and the highest number gets his dialogue option. That would make playing in a group more fun. If you wanna have a specific person talking there should be an stay absent answer. I would really love a system like that implemented so everyone can participate during conversation and there will be funny outcomes for sure.

In Swtor the different classes has different dialogue choices depending on class, rank and race and they are unique for every person. Basically every character has unique choices. You choose your answer and the the dice roll decides who is allowed to answer and answer with his own character and his choice.

Everyone gets included in the conversation and can participate instead of being a bystander which makes the group dynamic way more interesting and the unique aligments more shining out.

PLEASE! This should be the gold standard for story driven multiplayer games! This allows more player agency over how things play out and more interactivity if you are not the initiator of said dialog. And PLEASE for the love of Minsc and Boo, Voice the player character. Especially as is, it is very hard to follow a dialog that you aren't running. Because as soon as Player 2 clicks a dialog option the NPC responds.

Interesting. Is it copyrighted?

@Blackhelfer

I hope not, at least i don't think they can't copyright such a system but i do not know for certain.

Well its Bioware/EA so the answer is probably yes especially if it is a modification of the wheel that ME uses which it looks like it is.

FYI - the ME wheel dialogue thing is 100% copyrighted. So I would say this is also copyrighted.

First DOS had a good system of it's own. I wold prefer it over SWTOR. And I would love to see their hybrid.

PS: Oh, and by the way that part about different options in SWTOR is not really true. It's nothing but slightly different flavors for same option depending on class and sometimes race, and rank is always predetermined by the lvl of the content you're doing, not your real current rank.

I believe i have heared about some Rock/Paper/Scizors system ... was that in DoS? dunno, never played that ...

Also, personaly don like SWTOR too much. :-/
When 4 people are in party, and every single one of them pick differen choice, the result then dont feel like roleplay, but random number generator output. :-/

I mean, it would be fine to have *some* way to involve everyone in conversation ... but just another dice seem like wrong option. :-/
Or at least there should be option "skip answer", or to keep it a little more immersive "keep silent" for situations where you want specific party member to resolve the problem his way.

Otherwise i would hate our party to get in the same situation, where 3 Light side members are overolled by Dark side member of party ... who would imediatly kill the NPC, bcs he just decided to. -_-
Or if our 8Cha fighter ... will be picked to try persuation roll, while 16Cha Warlock with Friends and Guidance, would only stand there and looking sadly as everything he hoped for is turned to ash ... bcs he simply "didnt rolled enough" laugh

It was in DOS 1 actually.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Well, even better then. smile
That would mean Larian should know it and have experience with it ...

All im trying to say is that i would like to see people deciding who will talk, not system.

That's what i meant with there needs to be an option to dont say anything. In SWTOR was a timer and if you dont answer in time the others roll for it and if you want a specific person to talk then just dont select any answer.

"When 4 people are in party, and every single one of them pick differen choice, the result then dont feel like roleplay, but random number generator output." I would disagree here because in a conversation with a group there is usually not one talking and a group which consists out of strangers ingame everyone has its own agenda. But i can see your point.

Oh i would even vote against the timer ...
I believe since this game is created with the idea "the world will wait for you, player" ... it should be kept in mind all the time. :-/

That point about own agenda is true ... but that is core of the problem, those who have their own agenda would never satisfy with someone else doing something fitting his own only. laugh
I mean, we can imagine that rolling as who speaks first ... but it feels odd, that everyone else let you do litteraly anything, bcs it would be rude to interupt you. laugh

Therefore i can imagine two options ...
Either voting for the final answer (in fact, just the same as they allready included for Twitch) ... and then rolling for who will say it (and if that option would include diceroll ... proficiency and stat bonus should be added to the roll, simmilar to initiative ... so there is higher chance, that most proficient will be the one who would talk).
Or, wich would be quite problematic, but also awesome, especialy in some cases ... everyone speaking their mind, and then kinda brainstorming about it, before thei confrim that option to the NPC. laugh Ofcourse i see the main problem with this, when they would try to deceive, or intimidate ... it would look incredibly suspicious, to then start argue if that is actualy the thing they want to say. laugh laugh laugh
