As Gold coins has a weight now,
this will produce more of an annoyance then realism in the way of weightmanagement.

Surely you talked aobut it at Larian and theres several Options to test with the community.
------------------

I suggest either removing weight from all sources of coins or as counterbalance reduce pricetags of all topitems we might to buy at trading opportunities.

- When amassing a lot of coin we also limit our capability of transporting other stuff.
So we constantly have to relocate Goldheaps around to circumvent encumbrance.
We have to travel a lot more back to camp, to get some Gold from there, where we have our Treasury parked.

- Having prices reduced results normally in not carrying to much gold on Characters. Thereby Gold can have weight and we get somekind of balance in that way.

But gamewise more fun, i prefer no weight for goldcoins and reduced weight for jewelery etc. (atm 20 Goldcoins weigh 0.02 and a BronzeRing worth 20G weighs 0.05)

If jewelery should replace Coin as payment option, as in jewelry has more worth and less weight then same amount of Coins,
then of course there is some balance implemented allready.
But
then again i like to hold on to jewelery because i believe i can sell jewelery for more Gold in Baldurs Gate at a special Jewelery Trader.
Thats why i am lugging around an extra Backpack filled up with jewelery and that ones gaining a lot of weight over time.

So which way do we go?
1. Removing weight from all things coinrelated
2. reduce weight to coin and jewelery
3. let it stand like it is now and force us to have the more item management to be done

Update:
When changing weight of all items please also consider making more items Stackable.
Jewelery f.e. is so many of same sort and they are only needed to sell.
Stacking those wont be any problem, right.
Or
introduce a Jewelery trader which is allways at our maincamp, and who can also give us Quest to find special jewelry smile

Errrg.... "coins have weight" gives me frustrating Gold Box flashbacks.... there's a point where realism is too real.

Send camp supplies etc. to camp. Weight shouldn't be an issue as much.

I am fine about gold weight but honestly, I'd just make it a toggle. So those who like it have it, so those who don't don't have it.

There probably will be a mod to remove weight all together, sounds right up your alley.

I don't understand.. are your characters carrying around credit cards?
500 gold coins IRL is gonna weigh around 8 pounds, give or take.
Making coins weightless is an illogical gaming convention and I am glad Larian is getting rid of it.

The whole carrying a million things around with you a la Bethesda is ridiculous.
If you cannot handle the weight, you have to make choices. Simple as that. Sell frequently. Stash coins at camp. Ask Larian to introduce bags of holding and portable holes.

the thing about gold in tabletop games, is that there is an underlying assumption that you are storing the gold somewhere not on your person when its in vast amounts... nobody is carrying aroudn 20,000 GP on there person.

We just dont show them fetching the gold and such.

I have never played in a 5e game where this is assumed. At 6.7 grams a coin (rough weight of real life gold doubloons), 20,000 would have weighed nearly 300 pounds.
Where are you stashing that? Where are you storing it? Why are there safes and coin hoards? If everyone has some mysterious, abstract coin storage space, there is no need for banks, there wont be chests with coins in them, you can never pick pockets and find money...
I have never been in a game where it was just assumed you had it stashed "somewhere'. No DM I know (myself included) would shrug and say ok cool np. No... you need to say where it is. You need to indicate how much you are carrying on you.
If you get mugged or attacked and fail to defend yourself, that coin could be taken from you. There is certainly the possibility of a portable hole filled with riches, or a wealthy enough organization building an extra-dimensional space to stash your riches, accessible only by a device that opens a poral to the space... things like that. But those circumstances are always defined. Ambiguous, abstract "an assumed place to store it" subtracts from the game, and creates enormous exploits.

By the time characters are getting appreciable amounts of wealth (>10,000gp), they should probably find or be able to purchase bag(s) of holding. At 15lbs and able to carry up to 500 lbs (and Sane Magical Prices lists it at costing ~4000gp), it's a must for any adventuring party.

Plus, having a bag of holding enables the potential for fun shenanigans like stuffing party members in the bag!
