So I'm opting to ambush the ambushers in the abandoned town. I clear out the surrounding guards. I climb up on top of the houses coming up behind the watchful eyes of the goblins. I push the leader off the roof. I walk my half-elven ranger with a longbow up to the edge of the roof about to shoot the archer on the other side... I have a range of 60', with a longbow, and I can't hit him from here. What?

First off, bows are supposed to have two ranges, normal and long where long incurs disadvantage. The long for Longbow is 600', so even if that's removed I should still have better range than 60'.

Yes range is not implemented well for different weapons at present. Shortbow has same range as longbow, as light xbow, and hxbow. We have not seen any darts, javelin, or slings thus far so we can't use them for reference points for those. Bottom line they do need to fix the variable ranges of these weapons to be more accurate to 5e weapon ranges. Both for accurate range, point blank usage, and extended long range shots.
