Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems The Gnome has vanished

I'm doing the mission "Rescue the Gnome" and it seems to be glitched. It's stuck on telling me to click the windmill mechanism. I have clicked it and the windmill stops but the gnome is nowhere to be found. He isn't on the windmill anymore and I can't continue or finish the quest.

I entered the mill site for the first time since patch 5 was installed, and was immediately attacked by the goblins there. No chance for conversation.
After defeating th goblin boss, there was no gnome on the mill either.

I found Barcus back. He was standing inside the mill. Unmoving. I didn't notice him on the main map because he's so small and thin, but I noticed his yellow lozenge on the big map and so found him.
When I talked to him he was all dizzy, like when he got off the mill, saying I saved him and expecting me to rob him.
Fortunately I had this encounter earlier, because this would be total nonsense to someone who played this for the first time.

yeah he is getting loose from his ropes and then he either 1) runs away 2) attacks goblins and dies (he has 8 hp)

He can also be hit by random shots aimed at others.

Frankly I think he was just meant to die, and my treatment of him has been right all along.
