I feel like I'm relying more on interactive map objects to blow up enemies than my parties abilities.

What situations are you thinking about, who is in your party, and how are you generally using them?

Nearly every fight seems to have some barrel of oil close by or some items that I can throw to AoE the group I'm fighting.

I played the first two BG's and I play D&D weekly. These exploding items are a rarity if ever at all.

Yeah it's for that achievement in which you play through the game without things going boom or everything being on fire. This ain't nothing yet my friend.

According to me barrels are not really a problem if you don't use them. The ennemy doesn't use them much but yes...

There are exploding barrels everywhere, to the point that it become ridiculous. It's a part of the problem this game have with immersion and the feeling you're in a coherent world.

Why the hell would someone put so much exploding barrels everywhere ? Where do they all find them ? Is it so easy to find exploding barrels in the Forgotten Realms ? Why would someone that has a brain patrol right next to a barrel ?

It's fine if a few barrels are placed to ambush intruders (entrance of the zentharim lair, entrance of the blighted village) or if they are gathered in a specific room for a specific use (zentharim merchants in the goblins camp)... But why the hell are those barrels everywhere else ? It makes no sense.

On the other hand there are still way too much surfaces items... We should only see surfaces potions and arrows a few times at level 1-4, against some bosses bodyguards or something... Merchants that don't have a normal dagger or a normal helmet to sell should not have stacks of surfaces arrows... Same about those random goblins and monsters that have way too powerfull items in their hands.

Such explosions and surfaces should not be a big thing before level 8... It should be a great reward at low level, not common loot.
