Near the end of Act I, I noticed that the DK switched from auto-attacking to happily standing there and getting pulverized unless I specifically instructed him to attack each and every mob. My character on the other hand, would auto-attack every mob (which is mighty handy when wielding a nasty crossbow).

Now that I'm in Act 2, I've just realized that my chracter is doing the same thing as the DK. Unless I specifically select a mob and instruct them to attack, they will just stand there and eventually die. I have checked the following:
1. Verified they are both in Agressive mode.
2. Verified that their "initiative" value is non-negative and in the teens (not even sure if this has anything to do with the issue since the definition blurb for "initiative" reads "Who attacks firsts".
3. Verified that they are not encumbered.
4. Searched for auto attack in this forum and come up empty.

I am finding that the enemy is now getting in much more hits then it used to since they are in auto attack mode.

Has anyone come across this problem or a fix?

Note: Could this possibly be limited to patch level? I have not performed any exhaustive tests on this theory. If memory serves, I was on patch 1.3x during the end of Act I and then on patch 1.42; switching to patch 1.44 just before getting to Act II.

The selected character will not auto attack since you are controlling it, but the other character should. Did you try switching them to normal mode, then back to aggressive? I have my hero (archer) set to aggressive and have not had any problems with autoattacking as I controlled the DK (warrior), through a couple patches.

Thanks Raze, this might explain what I observed.

I will perform two definite tests:

1. Select DK as primary, get a mob to aggro and see if either DK or avatar attack without any input on my part.

2. Select Avatar as primary, get a mob to aggro and see if either DK or avatar attack without any input on my part.

I'll report findings afterwards. Oh, and yes, I have tried switching them to Normal and back to aggressive and even switching them from Peaceful back to aggressive.

I had a similar situation, rpger. My DK would take off on me running after a rat or skeleton and I couldn't keep up! (Had my characters on "run"). That's when I discovered the "agressive" and "normal" modes. You can choose either one for either character (keep your DK on 'aggressive' and your Hero on 'normal' or vice versa). I keep everyone and everything on "normal". I can't stand it when the DK gets ideas of his own! (LOL)
