I am getting infuriated by the amount of bullsh*t in this game, really.

In the goblin camp, an enemy goblin threw a vial of acid at my party from a distance of 30 meters. Not only is that range impossible in D&D 5e for thrown objects (range 20/60 feet), but it was a perfect spot-on shot also.

Then a bugbear shoved one of my party member 10 meters away from him, down a pit. That's 30 feet. No creature in D&D 5e can shove that far, let alone without a saving throw.

However, my characters cannot target a creature with Fire Bolt or Magic Missile more than 18 meters away (60 feet), even though the range for those spells in D&D 5e is 120 feet.

Early access my *ss, I don't care about bugs or lackluster visuals, but you give me bullsh*t unfair mechanics and I turn my back on it all.

Both throw and shove follow a parabolic arc - the same arc you see when you start the action but before you commit it. The throw/shove distances increase if the arc ends at a lower elevation.

That might be what you are seeing, and you can use this trick for your characters, too.

  • Throwing

Well that is true. Feels like something we too could do if we knew how to glitch it.
It is somehow part of the game mechanic but cannot be recreated by a real player. Only by AI. This is how it feels to me.

  • Shoving

Only once was one of my characters shoved and it made a difference.
I attacked the first front gate defense leading into the goblin-camp.
With this one high up watchtower-like position you can also reach by climbing roots.

The Goblin there just pushed grin Shadowheart to her death, which made me laugh a lot.
Such a little creature, lel. How high was the chance that it works? 30%? grin
Anyways it was hilarious. Goblin shoved her right into the flowing river down the cliffs. Was worth the laughs.

You're gonna laugh a lot if being shoved and teleported to your camp makes you laugh.

Oh my god once again ? This is hilarious !
Oh my god this time I'm dead because I get shoved ! That is so fun !
Oh my god game over because everyone has been shoved ! Hilarious this game is so fun !

Did the players that "laugh" when they have been shoved really played a full playtrough or two ?
Shove is just a joke they keep saying every 30 minutes.

You are assuming that everybody has your experience. I have seen a few shoves so far but I have not experienced that constant 30 foot flying around and I absolutely do not lose characters to it every 30 minutes.

^ ArvGuy's words.

If you see your characters get shoved a lot, Maximuuus - you might rethink your strategys.
Never stand with your back towards cliffs and the like.
I am glad the AI is not stupid and recognized such opportunitys.

There is only one battle in the game that really annoyed me at times and that was against the Duergas guarding the waterride to the official last cutscene.
I shoved THEM down there many times in one battle but they were tough as nails.

People say the Gith patrol is strong. HAH. They've got nothing on those Subterrainian Dwarfs.

The dwarves are super easy to a drow rogue sniping them from above, the gith on the other hand are quite a bit more of a challenge for that same character. But I agree with the OP that the shoves and throws being longer range than our specialty attacks (spells/arrows/bolts) are ridiculous. There is another post on range that I resurrected a few days ago on that very range subject.
