In the Druid Grove, when the Tiefling children stole from me, and I followed one to an entrance that I was too large to fit through. I thought, "perfect! I'll cast REDUCE on myself". It still stated that I am too large to fit through the entrance. Maybe just an EA moment. Love the game, and will keep giving feedback on these little things I encounter. I really like the idea of being creative with spells outside of just combat. Patch 6 is a blast so far! I can't wait to multiclass Sorcerer/Warlock in the full release (or before).

Definitely report this with a formal bug report form - it is likely an oversight, rather than an actual bug, but your size category DOES change in game, so medium sized characters who cast reduce and become small, should absolutely be able to squeeze through the small-sized gap.

I don't think the spell description says what mechanical effects it has and I just ignored the spell because of that when leveling up.

All of the spell features actually do seem to be function as per the handbook, interestingly enough, even if the spell doesn't say so. Your size category and weight do both change. In particular, this can make throwing your party members somewhere important much easier, when you can reduce their effective weight to one eighth.

The bit that makes me sad is that in 5e you can target objects with this spell to enlarge or reduce them, but in BG3 it's creature only.

Can halflings naturally fit through that entrance?

I don't think so but they should be able to.

I must agree that you should be able to enlarge or reduce objects.

My dwarf can, so I'd guess halflings can too.

Holy shit I hadn't noticed, thanks for telling me. My wizard is going to be able to get up to so many hijinks with this knowledge.

It would be fun if you could though it I BG3 too (though it would be just a fun thing to have). There's lots of objects in the game and from what I can see a lot of them are scaleable in the engine. Being able to play with them in this manner could be interesting.
